Home Tested for Mold in Summerville after Dishwasher Leak
A Charleston Area real estate agent referred GLS Engineering & Testing to one of their clients who had purchased a home in Summerville a couple of years back. The couple was ecstatic about their new-to-them home, but the dishwasher had recently developed a leak that took a while to detect. Concerned about what kind of fungal activity may have developed, GLS Engineering & Testing was asked to perform mold testing. The swab sample taken at the location of the leak did indeed test positive for mold, but everything had been dried out and it was inactive. Air samples revealed a normal fungal ecology and there were no indications that the water leak had negatively affected other parts of the home. GLS provided advice on how to properly remediate the small patch of visible mold that had developed at the leak. The owners were relieved that the rest of the house had not been affected and also that they did not have to call a remediation contractor.
