Cat Urine Odor Removed in North Charleston
A home inspector friend of mine called in distress about a rental unit he owned in North Charleston. He was renovating for the next tenants but was faced with an overpowering cat pee smell. The previous tenants owned numerous cats, and based on the odor, they seldom saw the light of day or used a litter box. The smell was so pungent, I commented to my friend “I can’t believe anyone can stand being in there to work”. He was at his wits end and called hoping I could at least make it rentable – I think he had given up on getting rid of the smell completely. This was the worst I’ve delt with – yes, it was that bad! On stand-alone buildings, I could have addressed the odor in a day or two; but being multi-family with adjacent neighbors and in an older building, I had to be careful that my treatment would not affect the neighbors. With a combination of Cold Vapor Diffusion (advanced dry fog) and chlorine dioxide gas, within five days, the odor was completely gone. At one point, I thought the Kitchen cabinets were going to have to be torn out, but the chlorine dioxide was so effective on the odor-saturate wood, they could be salvaged.
